Josh spends much of his free time performing instrumental works of all genres with ensembles of many sizes. Currently, he is the Principal Double Bassist in the Davenport Pops Orchestra, Yale's largest symphonic group. He has performed works from Sibelius' Symphonies to John Williams' Star Wars Suite. Additionally, he is an avid Violinist and Violist, currently being the student of Yale School of Music faculty Wayne Escoffery in his Jazz Improvisation class. Prior to Yale, he had played for the Portland Youth Philharmonic, the Oregon All-State Orchestra, and recently performed with members of the Oregon Symphony for PYP's Concert at Christmas in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert hall.
Outside of Instrumental Music, Josh is a vocal bassist and regularly solos with Redhot and Blue: Yale's Oldest All-Gender Acapella group. Performing a variety of Jazz standards from On Green Dolphin Street to Chega de Saudade, Josh has toured with Redhot in London, Kansas City, Boston, and Miami. This summer, Josh will be traveling with them on tour to Medellín, Columbia.
